I worked at Nickelodeon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I really loved how I was treated at Viacom/Nickelodeon. The benefits were great, the people were great and there was plenty of diversity.

    Cons

Giant media-conglomerates don't always make decisions quickly and legacy systems are hard to change.

    Advice to Management

As always, seek feedback from your people and listen to it.

I have been working at Nickelodeon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Cool environment with world reknown brands.

    Cons

Opportunities only really exist if you are Caucasian. I've seen Latin and African American employees in multiple depts overlooked for promotions despite being in the job longer, being more qualified, and doing just as much/as well as their Caucasian counterparts.

    Advice to Management

Management is pretty awful outside of a few standout folks. The organization needs a deeper look at race within its departments. Shame on you Nickelodeon.

    Pros

Cheap lunch options, easy opportunity to lead, own projects.

    Cons

Generally long hours, working OT is great if you have it, but once you're exempt from OT, it sucks.

    Advice to Management

    More transparency with company direction.

I have been working at Nickelodeon full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Friendly and creative environment. It really does feel creator driven. There are a fair amount of politics on the network side, but it doesn't overtly bleed onto the Production side. The path for promotion and advancement is not always clear. Your experience is largely dependent upon the team you work with and luckily I work with a great team. Wish that we could implement more cutting edge ways of getting our content out to the public.

    Cons

It can take a long time to advance at Nick. It's a nice environment so people may not want to leave. It can be cliquey at times and the pay is below other media companies.

    Advice to Management

Make position goals a little clearer to alleviate confusion about job duties and possibilities for promotion and advancement.

I worked at Nickelodeon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nick is a great company. Competitive salary and awesome compensation package. Summer Friday's and numerous networking events.

Retail Marketing: Great team and fun work environment. Opportunity to work on major accounts. Great work/life balance

    Cons

Small team so required to work on several accounts at once - not able to give 100% focus to a specific account.

I worked at Nickelodeon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Challenging mix of relaxed and intense deadlines depending types of promotions/events running. Great team of devs and designers. Supportive environment overall.

    Cons

Massive cutbacks caused too many tech jobs to get liquidated while production roles that were ineffective stayed stable. Way too much of the work outsourced to out-of-country companies.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to cut jobs, cut the right ones.
