I worked at Nimble Storage full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No "Jerks" Policy, free food on Tuesdays, lots of snacks, great product.

    Cons

Nimble Storage (NYSE: NMBL) is the leader in hiring poor managers. Nimble offers a wide range of managers that combines retail background with lots of micro-managing. Inside Sales prevents barriers to career development caused by a dysfunctional inside sales infrastructure. Nimble employees complain about increased metrics, lack of spiffs and compensation, non-stop gossiping and 0 training which decelerate employee retention. More than 10,000 employees, have left the Nimble Storage team across more than 50 countries.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone with a sales background with a proven track record of building successful sales team.

I worked at Nimble Storage (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked for Nimble Storage for almost 4 years. This is a company that truly lives its values. I worked hard, I got promoted and had an amazing time! The culture is one that is truly unique and I have made life longs friends from working at Nimble!
Nimble takes care of its people and this is the reason why people, come stay and become advocates.

    Cons

The salaries in certain silos may not be as competitive as they should be but the company makes up for its summer close (7 days) and its winter close (7 days). These are fully paid! This is quite unique in the bay area!

    Advice to Management

Continue to have real and structured career and coaching conversation - these truly make a difference!

I worked at Nimble Storage (More than a year)

    Pros

Infosight is a nice product but it is not the game changer they say it is. Technology wise Nimble has an awesome product with CASL and all but customers just don't care about it too much to change what they are using now. It will be pretty tough for them to get into the fortune 500 due to customers vision of going to an all software defined infrastructure. Things are coming in the roadmap that will help them but sadly it won't be enough. The best thing that can happen to Nimble is to be bought by a forward thinking company.

    Cons

Nimble seems to be late to the party on mostly everything ie: All-Flash. Infosight is really useful but it is not the game changer that they think it is and customers don't buy into it as much as Nimble would like. There are a million competitors out there that claim they can do this and do that but in the end customers are tired of buying another array from another vendor. They want out of the dc business so I am not sure how they are going to reach their goals. Storage industry is so volatile many will fail, even if they have good technology. No jerks policy is a farce if you ask me...some good people and some not too good. Decisions are made with zero consultation which sends teams strategies out the window. The policy should be renamed to "Only a few jerks". No one is protected in this wild and crazy industry that we are in. That is why you see zero loyalty from both a company and employee perspective. Nimble is no different.

Really? No 401K match...in this day and age its an amateur move to save money.

    Advice to Management

Involve the right people when it comes to important decisions that will affect a multitude of people. Try not to market the "No jerks" policy if you plan on not practicing it...makes you look like a fraud.
