    Pros

    Really fun, smart, and great people to work with. Small is good, you are not a number but a person. Awesome salary and benefits for the size of company.

    Cons

    Small means not a lot of money for training and infrastructure. A little bit of a buddy system going on in management.

    I worked at Nisga'a Data Systems (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay for such a small company. Friendships allowed them to get decent contracts and a few key members are very technically savvy and able to meet requirements. Benefits are alright. Excellent lab platform and environment.

    Cons

    Management is very poor. Management refuses to listen or take consideration of employees when conducting discipline. There is a great deal of fraternization between employees and management.

    An extreme negative: Management will opt to send employees with what they consider to be poor performance to a different contract on one of their buddy contracting companies: SMS working as a VTC Technician through an unregulated AC warehouse installing VTC equipment at the Pentagon as hard labor. Such tactics are very unprofessional, disrespectful, and disruptive.

    Advice to Management

    You need structure and consistency in your management. Drop the Buddy-Buddy Management system.

    Pros

    Small
    Native American owned?
    They stay out of your hair. Also a Con

    Cons

    They only care about their bottom line and not the employee.
    They have no clue what you do or how well you do it. No reviews for chances to receive a bonus or even a salary increase.
    Extremely high turnover in management/HR.

    Advice to Management

    Review your employees and give a bonus, raise, or promote as necessary. Employees have to have something to shoot for. Respect your employees and do everything you can to keep the good ones. Even if you have to take a small hit on your bottom line it will be worth it in the future. Reputation can be ruined extremely fast these days through the use of the internet so make your employees happy. If they are not happy you are failing as a company.
