I worked at Noah's Bagels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice crew depending on location

    Cons

Large workload for close to minimum wages. You literally get more money doing anything else. The competitive wages sign is a joke. Shift leads make 50 cents more than minimum wages. Sign spinners get paid more. In and Out crew members get paid more than assistant managers in training.

    Advice to Management

Pay your crew members more. You ask for premium service and pay less than fast food franchises. That's an absolute joke.

    Pros

    Free bagels
    good hours for the industry

A good store manager will make the store nice to work at

    Cons

Constant change in the corporate standards make longevity within the company difficult.
A bad or cruel manager can turn the job into a living hell
The pay isn't increasing, but the work is
Benefits downgraded the last three years straight
    Bonuses almost completely eliminated
Constant cost cutting in labor hours and food quality
    Low Morale

    Advice to Management

For the love of all that is good, stop tinkering with what worked! The customers can taste how cheap we've gotten, the good employees are leaving for greener pastures, and your firing your best producers for taking care of thier customers instead of the catering department. It looks like one big cluster____ from the store level.

    I worked at Noah's Bagels part-time

    Pros

Responsibilities were straightforward. Got one free bagel each shift. It was nice being able to engage with friendly customers.

    Cons

General Manager would always speak poorly of employees and customers. The only time anyone would receive praise was if she wanted to make another employee look bad.

    Advice to Management

Try to give more recognition to employees that go above and beyond.

    Pros

Able to teach and train my own crew.

    Cons

No support from upper management. Sometimes worked 70 hour weeks and Corp would still complain about sales.. Never enough.

    Advice to Management

Stop working your GM"s into the ground.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, good hours, meet lots of great people. Opportunity for personal growth. Experience running a legitimate business in a retail environment.

    Cons

Corporate management felt that they knew better than anyone else what was best for their franchisees. Never took into consideration suggestions from the people in the trenches. Menu was too large, food costs too high, support was minimal.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your franchisees. They are the ones that are out there every day working the system. If they are telling you something isn't working, help them fix it. Stop being a follower and start being a leader in the QSR category.
