I have been working at Nobis Engineering full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with, interesting work, totally open book financial structure, nice offices. Opportunities for personal growth because there are opportunities to learn new things if you pursue it. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

It can be difficult to move up if you are mid level. Company is structured for federal work so there is more overhead then other companies that are focused on private work.

    Advice to Management

Pursue other business lines and broaden your offerings.

I have been working at Nobis Engineering full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting projects, nice people, good location for NE offices, very nice offices, remote working actively promoted, decent benefit packages, charitable giving/community works are encouraged

    Cons

Terrible financial performance is accepted, staff/managers not held accountable for poor performance, PM's unable to accurately project work, workload is not diverse, terriblely meager bonuses, relatively low wages compared to market, too many chiefs - not enough indians

    Advice to Management

Get competitive, diversify your workload, invest in infrastructure (software, equipment) to be competive, or it will spell the end of the company

    Pros

Pleasant and quiet atmosphere in the office. Everyone eats lunch by themselves, unless they get together on a Friday and go out. Endless supply of fresh coffee. Their wellness group supply fruits and healthy snacks every other week. Each group prepares a lunch or BBQ once a year.

    Cons

Over managed. The firm is lacking in technology. Their server is the slowest I have ever experienced. Computers are old and not sufficient to stay competitive in the business. They are not in favor of training staff to improve technological skills. Communication about tasks to be done are poor.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with staff and let them know everything about a project prior to beginning a task so the work can get completed in a timely and more efficient manner. If staff needs or ask for extra training - encourage it.

I worked at Nobis Engineering as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, pleasant coworkers from the top down. Steady stream of work and still looking to grow and diversify. Great work-life balance.

    Cons

A lot of traveling for environmental scientists conducting groundwater sampling. In need of upgrades technologically. Could benefit from better organization and efficiency handling tasks.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the current strategy. Very solid company to work for.

    Pros

good benefits; small company allows for better career growth, some training available but is allocated by the managers, often discourage training brought up by employers.

    Cons

secrets within management, lots of gossip within the company, the offices appear to get along on the outside, but it becomes apparent quickly that they really don't. NH office more perks than MA office. PM's trow staff under bus when they're in trouble.

    Advice to Management

dont lie about you are financially and give lower level employees who do the actual work more respect and training... salarys are laughable

I worked at Nobis Engineering full-time

    Pros

Small to mid-size company, ESOP, nice perks and benefits for employees. In addition, there are some stellar project managers that work here.

    Cons

Junior staff are introduced to field work very early, but almost never progress out of it. Many projects are week long efforts, keeping staff out of the office for months. Also, there is a major disconnect between junior staff and management...so in a sense it feels like a larger company than it really is.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff you are managing.
