I worked at Noble Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get 21 days off. Very stable company they keep you working when everyone else is laying off. Down to earth and very family oriented. Joe Brewer is the best Rig manager I’ve ever worked for in the fleet.

    Cons

Not the highest paying offshore drilling company but they keep you working if your a good hand. They have cut travel pay in half so that’s another thing if your considering.

    Advice to Management

Just be more open to ideas

I worked at Noble Corporation full-time

    Pros

It was great for a while but when times get tough then expect to a lay off.

    Cons

It's the oil industry. Save your money and you will be able to find a job at home making way less. Don't spend more than you would make at a job around the house.

    Advice to Management

Let guys know before the layoffs so they can prepare at home better.

    Pros

Good pay, satisfying work, good bonuses and benefits. It was nice working a 3 week rotation.

    Cons

A lot of time away from home. You're just a cog in their machine. Your job can disappear as quick as the contract.

I worked at Noble Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get paid well, and you're on a rotation schedule, so you have three weeks off. There's also a wealth of opportunity to move up within the organization if you're keen, are willing to play the game, and don't get injured.

    Cons

The work is difficult - they get their money's worth. Nobody works harder for that amount of money, i.e. the effort/reward ratio isn't favorable. The injury rate is high - in my experience, particularly unreported injuries. I should note that reported injuries affect rig bonuses. In practice, productivity was valued over safety, official policy notwithstanding. Implementing safety policies was a theory, not a practice. The culture on board was radically toxic. Racism abounded during my tenure on the rig, as well as machismo. It's environmentally unfriendly and, like safety, official policies were impossible to implement, discouraged by peer pressure, and management looked the other way when policy wasn't followed, resulting in environmentally damaging activities being commonplace.

    Advice to Management

I don't know what to tell you. It's clear that there's a disconnect between presentation and reality, and it's also clear that it's deliberate. If not malevolent, the company aim is at least self-serving and without regard for the welfare of the rank and file, society at large, or the earth itself. The company's moral compass needs recalibration.
