Pros
Great people to work with on the rigs.....well mostly....
Cons
Poor Managers.........They used to not lay folks off.......that was the trade off for the mediocre salary when compared to other Drilling contractors......Since you now have to worry about being laid off.....might as well go with the Best Company with the best rigs and higher pay.....Transocean

Rule with an iron fist!
Nov 20, 2015 - Manager in Sugar Land, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1. 10/80 work schedule 2. stock incentive and bonus 3. Ice cream social
Cons
1. One person runs most of the corporate departments. There is middle management but he has the ultimate VETO power. 2. When offered expert opinions and process improvements to higher management there is 'Is it ain't broke don't fix it' mentality. Was told the company has been doing this for 98 years. Its working. 3. Lowball offers when hiring skilled professionals. They know they are not the highest paying company but try to make up for it by saying they have the highest safety record in the business and keep their employees safe. This means nothing to corporate employees. Just an FYI. 4. When asked about training, I was told it was not in the budget. 5. When asked about advancing in my career within the company, there was no room for growth, and if I wanted any opportunity I would have to switch departments or find interest in something else altogether. 6. Manual process for everything 7. The Management of change request process is slow. Too many hands in the pot and not enough people cooking and getting things done. 8. Every year there are lay offs around October or right before thanksgiving. If you see police hanging out in the lobby, layoffs are happening and they are here to protect us from disgruntled laid off workers. I write this speaking from first-hand experience. This is not my first or last oil and gas job. There are best practices and processes that could be used here to make this company more efficient and compliant in many aspects. However, many managers here are complacent and not open to fighting for change to make the company better. At minimum people do their job and collect their paycheck.

Great people on the front lines, weak managers
Aug 28, 2020 - Senior Account Manager in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Awesome people on the front lines - at branch level. Good benefits. Many locations across Ontario to potentially work from or relocate to.
Cons
Management communications are poor, leaving employees in the dark. Don't seem to care about employees. Lack of clarity of corporate vision. Many managers are in the dark ages.

Enjoyed Opportunities and Training Offerred
Dec 8, 2016 - in Sugar Land, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I worked in the Noble Sugar Land Office for nearly 8 years on three different teams. I had a wonderful experience and was fortunate to work for great managers. The company offers excellent training courses. They have great benefits, which my family of 5 utilized often. The executive team is personable and approachable. They are concerned with people while still building profitability for stockholders. The company has high expectations of their staff which I believe are reasonable and fair.
Cons
Could improve by allowing a more flexibility work schedule; many things were managers discretion so policy was not always enforced many things were managers discretion so policy was not always enforced many things were managers discretion so policy was not always enforced across the board
