    Pros

    -My former coworkers were great and always willing to help.
    -The benefits were good and having a gym in the building was very convenient.
    -There are some great leaders at Noble that will fight for their people and will be totally transparent and honest; it's just not the norm.
    -The building is really nice and office space is comfortable

    Cons

    -Poor communication from the top down. It's also hard because part of the culture at Noble is that most people ignore emails and do not ready the articles that corporate comms publish
    -Tough conversations were almost never had- everyone was "Noble Nice" which means you just swept problems under the rug or ignored them until they went away
    -No training opportunities, career development, or career growth conversations were had in my team
    -Compensation-- I get that times are tough but even a little bit helps
    -Lack of opportunity- I felt that I would be stuck in the same position I was in until someone else left. I also felt that I had stagnated and without training, I wasn't learning anything new.

    Advice to Management

    -Be transparent and be honest even if things aren't pretty or when conversations aren't going to be fun to have.
    -Stop trying to tell us that everything is sunshine and rainbows! We know that the market sucks, be honest about that and transparent about where Noble stands
    -Have conversations with your employees about their goals, their strengths, weaknesses, and career path often and OUTSIDE OF the yearly performance evaluation
    -Tell people when they did a good job. There isn't much you can do for compensation in this market so make people feel valued in other ways
    -When you get feedback, actually listen and try to understand why your employees are saying the things that they are. Don't just make excuses
    -When someone announces that they are leaving, do not just pretend like they don't exist for the next two weeks

    Pros

    Great benefits and 401k match. 4 hour Fridays were great.

    Cons

    The Division Order dept is poorly managed. The Denver supervisors couldn't do the job of the people underneath them. DO supervisors pawn everything off on the people under them and just attend worthless meetings. Even after 2 layoffs, so many people quit the DO dept that they recently had to hire another DO analyst. DO supervisors pick favorites and only they have possibility of advancing upwards.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of incompetent supervisors and promote from within.

    I worked at Noble Energy (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Salaries in line with industry. Nice building and surroundings.

    Cons

    Upper management will lie to your face. Mid-management plays the ole boys club game - golf, fantasy football, dinners with upper management - but won't show up for things like company sponsored charitable events, or take part in the team building events needed to familiarize staff with other departments (unless it is simply to get the alcohol).

    Advice to Management

    Clean your own house!

    Pros

    Has been forced to become more competitive with other companies on salaries and benefits.
    Good flex time schedule. Provide workout facilities and good 401.

    Cons

    You become more expendable after many years of success due to money.
    American citizens were cut while contract foreigners on sponsored visas were retained.
    Huge disconnect between upper management and regular employees.
    Company now driven mostly by profits instead of helping employees or local areas.
    Most employees are unaware of what upper management is doing - very secretive.

    Advice to Management

    Decide whether you want to be your own company and different from the others or just another poorly run oil and gas company that suffered the consequences of their own poor management.
    Stop overextending yourselves and over hiring when the market turns up at the expense of longtime employees. Consider your own country first instead of the mighty dollar.

    Very unethical environment. Nepotism and incompetency run rampant.

    Pros

    Excellent exploration success.
    Fast mover (when unimpeded externally).
    Safety culture improving.

    Cons

    Poor company culture with regards to dignity and respect, personal interactions.
    Old school management practices. Arrogant inner circle in the know and make decisions, not really interested in the concerns or ideas of those out of the loop.

    Advice to Management

    Work to Instill a culture of basic courtesy and respect to each other.
    Implement an Interpersonal Skills Training program.
    Listen to the workforce on what they see and think.

    Pros

    The benefits were awesome if you participated in the Vitality program.

    And the former VP, Dan Kelly, knew everyone by name and really cared about us. He was such a great guy. Then the Houston suits infiltrated Denver and forced him into retirement. The company lost it's heart (at least, in Denver), when they did that.

    Half day Fridays were pretty kick sweet.

    Cons

    Mysoginistic, comparatively don't pay as well as other O&G companies, boasted about never having had a lay off in the company's exhistance and then had 2 MASS layoffs in 7 months. In those layoffs, they laid off the "worker bees" and no management. And those they did lay off, their direct managers had no say! What the hell?!

    Advice to Management

    How about some diversity! White, Christian and male is what they look for in a manager.

    Pros

    Overall, the company pays competitively and offers excellent benefits. Colleagues are generally friendly and willing to help one another. Flexible hours lend to a decent work/life balance.

    Cons

    Where to begin? Management is horrendous. Supervisors are so far removed from day-to-day work that they have no idea what the job actually consists of. In addition, they are unwilling to recognize this distance and do not listen to recommendations from employees who actually understand the process. It is unclear what constitutes a promotion outside of shameless sucking up to supervisors. Management plays favorites and ignores the people who choose to focus on working hard rather than "playing the game". The one area where management has succeeded is sucking all of the fun out of being at work. People are miserable here.

    Advice to Management

    Take a long look at who is in charge and how they got there. Review complaints to HR against current supervisors, because there are many, and see if they are valid. Have open and honest conversations with employees about why people are so unhappy and how these issues can be resolved.

    Pay is decent. Free parking. All the amenities in the coffee bar/kitchen

    Loads of money wasted on so many things..too numerous to count.

    Put more value in your employees
