I have been working at Noble Group Limited full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not sure about the front office/middle office. But in Finance, Treasury, Settlement and IT department, people are supper nice, kind, supportive and hard-working. Very comfortable, healthy, and happy working environment. It is not that you do not need to work hard or over time. It is just that people here would like to make everyone's life easier by doing their job well.

The compensation is pretty competitive in this area, too.

Good insurance and great 401k plan.

    Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Slow communication in the management level.

The headquarter is in not in US. It usually takes a while to get confirmation or approvals from management or Board.

Sometimes, there is only one meeting per month for specific things. if these things did not get done in the meeting, they are not going to be taken care until next month.

    Advice to Management

Take time to have more meetings to communicate.

  2. "Nice, but many recently laid off"

I worked at Noble Group Limited full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people work here, snacks aplenty, pizza occasionally, fairly casual work environment, people in accounting, trade finance, and treasury are super nice and hardworking

    Cons

Parent company is in Hong Kong, which can sometimes blow logistically. Recently many were laid off because company revenues have tanked. Some currently employed are a bit jaded by the lay-offs.

    Advice to Management

Find other ways to cut costs besides cutting employees

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Noble Group Limited full-time

    Pros

When I was there - Pays well, outstanding benefits, relaxed environment, open-ended, growth potential, entrepreneurial, very flat structure, great people (for the most part). I worked for a great group run by a great guy.

    Cons

Management should've been more proactive when there were instances of workplace harassment, but they were eventually dealt with accordingly.

Some workplace politics - i.e. can't talk to some other groups because of insecure co-workers or co-worker who didn't want to do any work so attempted to delegate all the work to me. I pushed back and he ended up throwing a hissy fit.

    Advice to Management

When I was there this was a good company with growth potential. Please listen to employees who are in an uncomfortable spot and act accordingly otherwise no issues.

    Pros

Noble is a pretty flat organization giving the employee a chance to interact with senior level employees. They provide excellent benefits, a chance to give back to the community during the holidays and daily breakfast.

    Cons

Their credit rating has been downgraded consistently over the past couple of years and is now junk. They've lost their CEO. There are many examples of micro-management, spontaneous decisions and lack of communication from the top down.

    Advice to Management

Genuinely care about your employees, communicate openly and honestly with employees, incorporate those that are affected as you plan to change processes, rules, etc.

"Terrible place to work unless you need medical benefits"

    Pros

    -new CEO
-medical benefits - (although recently firm has been cutting back)
-most of the employees not in management are nice
    - Bagel Fridays

    Cons

    - Lots of favoritism, eg- FT employee is allowed to work from home 2 days and come in at 10am and leave at 3pm the other 3 working days, but everyone else on that same team is scrutinized when needing flexibility working from home.
    - Terrible management - all the middle managers are just there to collect paychecks and act as puppets for the senior management; Middle management has no backbone, no voice, no respect for employees under them
-Terrible communication - HQ flat out lies and says things are great; the middle management puppets "communicate" that message downstream
    - Revolving Door - after ~2 years (if you aren't paid too low) you're let go, probably because you are a drain on the 401kmatch
    - flat, no career advancement (unless maybe if you request a pay cut)

    Advice to Management

    - Stop acting like you are better than everyone, - obviously you are not since you are working in a failing junk rated company
    - Stop lying and saying things are great
    - If the company is bringing in private equity - that means the PE firm believes in the business; not in YOU aka current management
    - show RESPECT for your employees
    - This is not an investment bank stop acting like your employees need to stay late just to give face time, act like we are in the current century
    - Culture change and morale booster needed - can't achieve this with scare tactics to non-management employees

    Pros

Worked here for many years, at first it was a great company; people were fantastic, bonuses were strong, benefits were stellar. Then things changed and it all went down hill

    Cons

Most of the good employees left, they're now left with the second string. Revolving door with mgmt so nothing ever gets accomplished, bonuses are now terrible, and the benefit package is simply mediocre

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and everything else will fix itself

    Pros

Great place to learn about commodities from a world class commodity trading merchant. Good benefit, work/life balance.

    Cons

Promotion is kind of slow. Unavoidable office politics like in a bank.

    Pros

Great people and atmosphere, opportunities for moving between groups, excellent 401k match, fun people

    Cons

Insufficient communication between satellite offices and HQ in Hong Kong, pressure to change business models in certain groups

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent to employees and investors - probably too late now with the Iceberg research kerfuffle
