I have been working at Nokia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is good, however, that does not help if you are reporting to inexperienced and abuser manager. I think Nokia Atlanta location does not reflect the Nokia vlaues. Here is a Director replace an experienced manager with his friend to manage an entire operation, and that manger also bring his bodys... and abuses continue....

    Cons

Some people are nice, but management is very poor, abuses, discrimination and all the above

    Advice to Management

Get an other job that mach your skills

I have been working at Nokia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Bright engineers.
Multi-national company with lots of cultural diversity.
    Benefits are very good.
    Very nice severance package.

    Cons

Too many mid-level managers taking advantage of the company--unnecessary travel and then crazy spending on meals, limos, etc.
    Reliance on external contractors.

    Advice to Management

Management has made some difficult decisions regarding the future of the company. Stick to your guns and continue to cut the fat.

I have been working at Nokia full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nokia is a great company to work for as a technical engineer as there is a high level of technical competence across all areas of the company. The hours are flexible as needed and my colleagues are generally fantastic. The pay is generally average to above average, but other benefits such as 401k match and paid time off are exceptional. Even in the unfortunate situation where the company needs to lay people off, they are treated fairly, and the company makes the transition as painless as possible for the departing employee.

    Cons

When the company is not doing well it is reflected by doing layoffs. When the company is doing well, they tend to hire like crazy. This results in a viscous repetitive cycle of too aggressive hiring followed by layoffs followed by more hiring followed by more layoffs. This is not helpful for overall employee morale.

    Cons

Lost to competition for the many years

    Advice to Management

Reshuffle the people. Same management sticking around. Need to have fresh dedicated accountable management in the top to survive.
