I worked at Nokia full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fantastic European based company focused on skills and culture without the overly overt, necessity of degrees and diversity requirements seen with may other U.S. based companies. Great benefits, bleeding edge product and great people.

    Cons

None. Just don't confuse HMD with actual Nokia. (Networks)

    Advice to Management

Learn from past mistakes. Keep European flavor.

I have been working at Nokia full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great team, great environment. Always working with the latest technology. Team is very goal oriented and truly gets job done.

    Cons

This is not the place for just anybody. Being successful in Nokia requires dedication, hard work and every now and then also long hours.

    Advice to Management

Team is one of the best R&D teams in the world. R&D cost in US is high, but productivity and results are excellent. Keep investing in US.

    Pros

Good benefit, flexible hours, good vacation days, good 401k match
    Professional colleagues, good manager

    Cons

Terrible work life balance - Telecom industry is very stressful, and Nokia try to accomplish more and more work with less and less employee.
Average - Below average compensation in industry.
    Overall weak corporate strategy

    Advice to Management

Top management need to develop a stronger strategy, current strategy's not competitive in tech industry
Hire more people, don't only focus on cost saving! Employee is as important as stakeholders!

I worked at Nokia full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you were fortunate to be with Nokia in the mid to late 90's you were a part of a growing company. There were many opportunities for career advancement. The employee was treated with great dignity and value.

    Cons

Because you spoiled working for Nokia finding another job that has the same respect for the employee and benefits are hard. It's then that you realize how good the days were in the past.

    Advice to Management

If you find yourself in management at another company find a way to instill the Nokia way to bring value to the employee that is doing the work.
