I have been working at Nokia full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Sounded like a good change in management with latest merger. Liked the emphasis on culture. Decent RIF package.

    Cons

Was told our product had no overlap with Nokia SW. Same for sizing of our group and profit margins. Instead they RIF'd whole group including direct management. We're told positions were eliminated in paperwork. Instead they tried to replace with contractors no benefits. Customers felt betrayed some already left. Product service left in ruins. Wanted to hire me back after 6mos no benefits no W2.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are your greatest asset. You can't replace decades of knowledge with new contractors. Screwed your customers on the process. Nice loyalty.

I worked at Nokia as an intern (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is literally no Pro for Nokia in Austin TX.

    Cons

    dishonesty and unfair management.
    Here is the reason:
Nokia is a public and a European company in the USA and most people who work there feel no ownership or any motivation to make the product or the company look better. Everyone is in a mode to keep their job safe and make money by creating a garbage software.
85% of employees are indian, almost 95% of managers are Indian and unless you are Indian or you have some good connection with them you will get to nowhere. There is no room for promotion. There is no integrity and honesty. The management structure is so unhealthy and you will not be recognized for your good work.

I worked at Nokia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Can literally do nothing and get paid well if you know how to be a politician

    Cons

No loyalty to hard working employees, middle to senior management only concerned with lining their pockets through bonuses paid out for headcount reduction

    Advice to Management

Avoid demotivating people through constant work place psychological abuse, threats of forced relocation, yearly restructuring, false promises. Manage your directors. They are so disconnected with individual contributors you maybas well save some money by letting them go.

I worked at Nokia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits were ok, but reduced every year I was with company.

    Cons

Disjointed management had lost focus on customers. Zero potential for job growth or promotion even with extensive losses of senior staff. Company purchased competitors, but hemorrhaged talent. Sr. Management talked about values, but did opposite.

    Advice to Management

Break apart the company to unlock shareholder equity.
