I worked at Nordstrom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, great people, a true open door policy, good work life balance, tend to promote within, coffee, snacks (sometimes: candy, etc), sample sales, discount, loose dress code (fashion is variable), bi-monthly lead meetings, sense of community.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive, internally compared against Amazon, people leave for better paying positions, a VAST majority of the people here are not tech savvy, sometimes there is favoritism with hiring, redundant programs and processes.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest not comparing Nordstrom to Amazon, Nordstrom doesnt sell toilet paper, they are different companies. In the retail fashion/clothing space Nordstrom dominates, and is doing quite well.

People are forced to live farther and farther away because of the housing industry in Seattle. This role does not require being in office, I think that you would attract and keep good talent if you allowed often if not full remote access. Any speed issues would be solved with dedicated desktop connections

I worked at Nordstrom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits, work-life balance, good pay

    Cons

Good luck going home at a reasonable hour when it's the holidays/Anniversary sale. Management is extremely political. If you're lucky your manager will be an angel - if not, good luck airing your grievances.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so political -- your employees want to feel like you have their backs. You usually don't.
