    Pros

    Absolutely nothing good to say...

    Cons

This company does not have a clue on how to sell strategically... their solution to rewarding their big hitters (who came from the outside) is to lay them off before they had to pay out commissions. They are one of the most top heavy and poorly run technology companies that was born out of the 80's technology boom. They deserve to be out of business.

    Advice to Management

Quit micromanaging your stars and let them do what they do well... and quit being so darned product focused and spend more time solving customer's business problems. Lay off all of your dead weight management people who don't do anything for their big salaries.

I worked at Nortel Networks (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked in R&D for about 10 years and literally got to build the labs from scratch. I also learned so much about every aspect of cutting-edge telecom at the time. Working around the clock was never an issue as it didn't feel like work to me.

    Cons

The carousel of CEOs like the ever-smirking John Roth all talking tough, then taking off with their golden parachutes caused the demise of Nortel. Lower management got into the fever, too, literally throwing everything into the trash that didn't cooperate - a laptop with a bad battery, tons of copper wire, etc.

    Advice to Management

This will happen again and again to other companies out of selfishness, and if your company does anything like Nortel did and its numbers resemble Nortels, you're doing things seriously wrong.

I worked at Nortel Networks (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good times....a lot of excellent people worked for Nortel. A shame it all imploded.

    Cons

Poor executive decision making at the end....the "all things to all people" strategy didn't work. We should have sold off the secondary businesses and put a laser focus on one or two.

    Advice to Management

Hope all is well wherever you landed. It was a good run while it lasted.....won't see that ever again in my career.

    Advice to Management

Be more in tune with the people that actually do thw rok.

    Pros

Great place to work with many smart inovative people. Good Benefits. competitive salaries. Great products and a wonderful customer base

    Cons

Executive churn and mismanagment caused the downfall of this company. Late to the market with products because of a lack of focus and comitment.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Nortel Networks full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It was a wonderful place to work with innovative, brilliant thinkers and an active participant in the creation and expansion of the information superhighway. Great work/life balance and great middle management.

    Cons

Well, corruption at the highest levels sunk this company. Fudging financial numbers and stuffing pockets of the top tier destroyed Nortel. There are no jobs to be had here. Goodbye, Nortel.

    Advice to Management

Go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
