    I worked for the company for 8 yrs. Good working environment good Bennies. Family oriented Company.Worked on the honor system. Good pay

    None, except for the Bankruptcy due to poor leadership.

    Hire your managers based on experience and worth.

    At the time was a good company to work for and people were fantastic.

    Tried to do way to much, inability to focus resources

    Advice to Management

    Make decisions and execute. Not sure how with $3B in cash at the time and other extra assets tht could have been sold Nortel made no attempt to restructure. Lawyers have made out like bandits in the five years...

    Talented and motivated group of peers.
    Direct management had dept goals aligned with personal development goals.
    Challenging and interesting projects.

    Large company ( or was) doesn't always change with the times quickly. Not as nimble as smaller companies.

    Don't sacrifice long term quality over short term budget.

    Pros

    Worked at Nortel Networks in Toronto during the bankruptcy. Management I worked with were intelligent, capable and genuinely concerned about the bankruptcy outcome.

    Cons

    Bad situation for a great company.

    Advice to Management

    Senior management should have made the changes they developed before the bankruptcy process was put into place.
