    Pros

Great benefits. Took care of their employees.

    Cons

Once layoffs began it was a stressful environment to work in as you never knew if you would be laid off.

    Advice to Management

Management overall was great except for the perceived mis-management in the executive level.

Good products and services. Great coworkers. Enjoyed my team. Well paying jobs in a changing industry. Lots of different job opportunities when I started. Recognized company products world wide.

    Cons

Filed no and destroyed many lives and a great company as a result of a bad CEO hiring decision. Never recovered from purchases of other companies and market slowdown.

    Pros

You will excel in maintenance and install of switch related equipment. Travel & education is paid for, Home state based, Benefits, strong and reliable company, vacations, holidays paid. Stability.

    Cons

it was hard to move up in pay or advance in your position. I had to lowest raise but yet the best work performed. I received a 2 penny raise and the manager above me that played games on his Lap Top and went out shopping while I completed every job many with the Quality Audit coming back with ZERO defects had a 3 dollar raise. that's when I Hired on with uswest.

    Advice to Management

I really did like the job, tools lap top and everything was provided. the knowledge they gave me was top notch and irreplaceable. Please don't forget or lose sight in who is actually doing what

I worked at Nortel Networks full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nortel had everything in a company that would satisfy any employee with ambition.
Middle management were carefully selected to build great and cohesive teams in design, support and sales. Camaraderie was second to none and my colleagues were close and shared experiences and information easily. I was devastated when Nortel filed for chapter 11 and my working career has never been the same since leaving Nortel. Unfortunately I missed moving to Avaya as I left before that happened.

    Cons

the chapter 11 episode was so unpleasant where roomfuls of people were let go in the Maidenhead Office.

    Advice to Management

nothing much to say - just wish you'd carried Nortel past its 102 year history.
