I worked at Nortel Networks full-time

    Pros

The most interesting job I had at Nortel. Frequent travel, meetings with F-500 C-level execs, working with call center managers and staff- never a dull day! It did end in 2002, but the rating system won't allow that.

    Cons

Not all of the clients were pleasant. I suppose this is to be expected in a recovery position, but it didn't make the job easier. Still - never a dull day!

    Advice to Management

Be sure to keep all operations above-board. Credibility is paramount in the business. Customers have other companies to choose from. Don't abandon what has made the company an international juggernaut in favor of the latest fad, even if the competition is do ing so. Stay strong!

I have been working at Nortel Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company listens well to it's employees at all levels and takes input to construct a better working model for its future business.

    Cons

Nothing really negative other than it may want to examine its competitors with even greater scrutiny to continue to stay ahead of the field.

    Advice to Management

I would encourage management to keep listening and to continue to recognize and reward outstanding achievement and to whenever possible, promote from within.

    Pros

The people are friendly. Lots of programs for employees to get involved in inter social activities and the community. Managers are fairly understanding to your needs and will work with the employee. The work from home policy is a great way to be green, and improve employee satisfaction. The campus I work at is especially beautiful, with ample parking and beautiful nature surroundings. We are also a very diversified company that pays a very competitive salary compared to other high tech.

    Cons

The stock shows little signs of improvement. Layoffs are always an issue, and job security is hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

I'm not sure what you can do, it's a tough marketplace for us.

    Pros

The people I work with, my customers and the opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Currently, the only downside is that the press, particularly the Canadian press, is crucifying us. We need support from the public, employees and our customers if we are to come out of this situation.

    Advice to Management

Keep encouraging the employees through recognition and advancement.

    Cons

No future, the company will be sold, no focus for product range, prices are still high compared to compitutors, chap 11 company

    Advice to Management

Need to focus for company interest, develop more ideas to keep company profitable, increase employee statisfaction, create new oppertunites for product and the company
