I have been working at North American Lighting (More than a year)

    Pros

Tech positions pay $18-20+/hr as you advance from C to A technician. Easy to move up and get raises by doing simple training you get paid overtime to complete each week. Your first promotion to B tech and $20/hr is expected in 6 months or less. Loads of overtime, possible double time ($60/hr) opportunities

    Cons

Management sucks, if you don't WANT overtime weekly, go somewhere else. If you want overtime and a big paycheck, this is your place.

    Advice to Management

Hire some competent supervisors, team leaders, GF, you get the idea.

I have been working at North American Lighting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is air conditioned and the work itself isn't tough. They definitely will never have a lack of work for the salaried personnel, they always will find a way to keep you busy

    Cons

Lots of unpaid overtime and little consideration for the happiness of the employees is leading to a turnover rate that I have never seen. Young engineers usually don't last 3 years before leaving. They plan that turnover rate into the schedule of projects.

    Advice to Management

If you don't start to care more about your employees and their concerns, the turnover level will eventually spell disaster for the company. Management has to start to listen and pay attention or problems will continue to get worse.

    Pros

    Money
    Benefits
Current position does allow flexible work hours

    Cons

Management is a joke. There is no accountability at plant level while others are held accountable for the lack of management (holding people accountable) at plant level. Politics are obvious. People in management positions without any experience in the area in which they are managing. Deserving employees overlooked for promotions without legitimate explanation. Internal promotion impossible if you are outstanding in your current position. NOTHING is standardized between plant locations and the recommendations of standardization go unheard. Decisions on processes being decided by people not doing the job on a daily basis and most of the time creates more work rather than streamlining.

    Advice to Management

Upper managment, specifically Kirk Gadberry, needs to actually get involved and see what all the shortcomings are instead of letting department managers handle them. Department managers do not care as long as the work is getting done. Suggestions of making things better go nowhere. NAL would be a great place to work if accountability was expected AND reinforced at every level. Money is wasted everyday because accountability at all levels is being ignored. Upper management needs to get out from behind their computer screens and stop looking at numbers and see how the day-to-day operations flounder.
