    Pros

UTS is a temp service and a way to get your foot in the door at NC State or UNC and they have helped so many people get great jobs and negotiated great salaries as well.

    Cons

There are no downfalls to it right now. The only thing I can think of is I kept getting opportunities at UNC and that's probably because my experience is there so the drive from Raleigh to Chapel Hill can be a headache at times but overall not too bad.

The best years of my life

    Pros

    - The Centennial engineering campus is a great place for study and research. I enjoyed working on club activities (NCSU Aerial Robotics) in Engineering Building III where there are machine shops and impressive research labs - The Hunt library is state-of-the-art. I spent a lot of time working on the library's balcony over lake Raleigh while basking in sunsets - NC State is inside of of Raleigh, so it is convenient to bike into the city to explore the museums and parks

    Cons

    - NC State is an enormous campus, so be sure to join a competition-club if your an engineer. The friends you make spending late nights in the lab will be the best part of your college experience!

NC State offers great graduate student training for academic and industry careers.

    Pros

NC State has one of the best professional development programs available at any university. The graduate school offers workshop series and certificate programs in communication and writing. Another highly rated program is the preparing the professoriate program, designed to prepare graduate students specifically for careers in academia.

    Cons

Graduate student stipends may not cover the cost of living in Raleigh.

Great university that invests in its people, just not their salaries

Sep 14, 2021 - Multimedia Producer in Raleigh, NC

    Business Outlook

    Pros

NC State is a great place to work. They are very focused on employees' needs and genuinely seem to look out for employees. They invest a lot of money in personal professional development, giving employees training that helps them chart their own careers. They also invest in technology, which is amazing to work with.

    Cons

The one big con is that, for all NC State invests in technology and professional development, their salaries don't match up. It's not bad, but it could certainly be more and there could be more avenues for growth within the university.

    Pros

NC State and the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering always strived for success, whether as a department, research group, or on the individual level.

    Cons

There were few downsides to my time here at NC State. Dealing with Covid-19 protocol was a little frustrating and tricky at times but the university had great proactive planning.

    Pros

NC State offers a ton of professional development opportunities for its staff. The benefits are also great with the state pension plans, retirement options.

    Cons

Workload and compensation do not line up in the least. Expect to work long hours with no overtime if your position is considered exempt and you will often lack resources in terms of employees to get the job done.
