I have been working at North East Independent School District part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Only work two times a week (T, R)
    Fun field trips
    The students can be hilarious
The hours are great for college students

    Cons

    Some students are difficult
    There's no negotiating hours
Can't work more than 20 hours a week
If you're under 25, get ready to be mistaken as a student... a lot.

I have been working at North East Independent School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, nice campuses, decent pay, better than average benefits, good technology but not over the top, class sizes are not too large (again depending on which school you are at).

    Cons

Pay increases do not keep up with inflation, depending on the school admin cares more about the school looking good than solving discipline problems, central office mandates change every year and it is hard to keep up with what is expected with each change.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on fixing problems and less on looking good on paper.
Teacher pay should keep up with inflation.

    Pros

A lot of support in SLP department
    Schedule is great
    CEU and licensure stipend
Options for district to pay for your TSHA conference if you present at meetings

    Cons

    Paperwork takes a long time
Campus level difficulties vary at each campus, support for SLP's greatly depends on administration at each school
