I have been working at North Kansas City Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is ok for a non profit hospital. Benefits are substantial, there are some perks.

    Cons

A lot of the staff are rude and condescending. Coworkers are afraid of people who want to take an initiative to better themselves and the hospital. Also, you get stabbed in the back for continuing your education. There are people who will do whatever it takes to have your fired. The lack of professionalism is beyond belief. There is praise for laziness.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at North Kansas City Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some really great people with whom I work with.

    Cons

The hospital continually has the wrong people in management positions. I had a horrible manager that was mean spirited, talked bad about nearly everyone and she had the nerve to wonder why people didn't say hi to her or hold conversation with her. She's IS passive aggressive, extreme micro-manager, everything has to be done her way, she's isn't smart enough to realize that there is more than one way to get to the same end result. My position has had high turnover and leaders turn a blind eye. When I would return from a day off, I was always coming into snarky and rude emails over the stupid things, making assumptions instead of asking me first. I'm not the only employee who feels this way about their manager, there are several people who have made similar comments about their manager. Happy employees makes for a successful business!

    Advice to Management

LISTEN to your lower level employees, REVIEW the people they have managing others, because some are simply horrible it because they have NO formal training or an objective mindset.

Patient care comes first. Comradery, everyone works together towards one goal and acts like they are on a team.

    Cons

Health benefits are crummy. Low end salary

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your employees when making big decisions

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at North Kansas City Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flex time, friendships developed throughout the hospital, retirement plan,

    Cons

Pay raises, favoritism rampant, lack of confidentiality of employees personal issues.

    Advice to Management

When an employee is the victim of domestic violence leading to substance abuse (alcohol), rally around that employee and get them help. Esp. when the victim is a long time employee with many outstanding evaluations before the abuse started. Humiliating an employee just makes the violence and abuse worse. As a hospital, you should help an employee get better as you would a patient coming in with the same issues. Shame on you.
