    Pros

Love atmosphere and the work i do.

    Cons

Pay as a profession needs to mimic the cost of education. Not an issue with workplace, but as a market value.

I worked at North Kansas City Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent learning opportunities, for the right individual. Diverse patient population, which always brings an array of interesting medical problems.

    Cons

Favoritism is a huge problem, management has changed so much over the last 10 years, would not be in my opinion, employer of choice! Micro-management at it's finest!

    Advice to Management

Employee's are the face of the company, each one has something to offer and most truly care about the job they are doing. The patient is primary concern, however the stress of having to watch your back for 12 hours everyday and take the focus away from our reason for coming to work is a great disservice to those we care for! Please remember not only do you cause the employee to question their own worth, which in turn compromises patient care.

    Cons

You aren't trained in all areas floated to and each floor has different ways of doing things, which can be confusing

I have been working at North Kansas City Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally a great place to work. Employee centered attitude. Everyone is very nice. upper management cares about staff and their needs. fair amount of PTO. on-site daycare.

    Cons

Health insurance is not great for a hospital, you have to use a Meritas Doctor otherwise you care is very expensive. I am having a baby and it will cost me almost $2,000. At most hospitals employees get a much larger discount. Pay is slightly below average.

    Advice to Management

Increase hourly pay for staff, we lose great nurses to other hospitals due to pay. This and the health insurance are really the only drawbacks to the hospital. I have no other complaints.

I worked at North Kansas City Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hourly wages were nice. Bonuses available. Benefits were fantastic.

    Cons

There was no teamwork. Most of the other night CNAs were rude or lazy. Favoritism was a big factor. I felt like my voice couldn't be heard when I had an issue. Manager, who is still there, was the worst manager I have ever had. She micromanaged the good workers and turned a blind eye to the lazy workers. She was the reason I left the hospital. If you got on her bad side she made it impossible to transfer to another unit or pursue other career opportunities at NKCH. The turn over rate was ridiculous. Constantly understaffed. Patients were not split evenly. Overworked and under appreciated. Manager was rude, does not care about her employees at all.

    Advice to Management

My advice to upper management would be to remove the current manager of the 11th floor Renal/Tele from her position, or at the very least enroll her in several classes on how to be a true leader and work on her communication skills and develop compassion which she is very seriously lacking.
