I worked at North Oaks Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only working 3 days a week as a full time employee.

    Cons

Benefits for support staff are terrible.
My schedule was constantly changed, absolutely no consistency. I understand that this is at times unavoidable, however there were three other people in my job class in my department and we created a schedule that we all agreed upon and our supervisor approved. It was never followed and I was constantly scheduled to work on days that I had prior engagements on. Prior engagements that were agreed upon when I was hired, that I was told would be honored. I
was constantly being called in to work on other units that didn't need me, with staff that were less than helpful or friendly.
Additionally, when I was trained I was given a set list of items that I would be doing as the secretary. The longer I stayed in this position, the more patient interaction my coworkers insisted I have. Again, this is to be expected but a secretary has absolutely no business toileting patients, and assisting them to walk. I was not certified to do these things, yet I was expected to do them and was berated by coworkers when I did not agree. I reported this to my supervisor and nothing was done of it.
I had several coworkers who had anger issues, who would treat patients and other coworkers poorly, and again, nothing was done of it when the incidents were reported.

Seemingly, the only thing that the administration cared about were the patient satisfaction scores. They did not care that staffing ratios were absurd, they did not care that my unit was constantly sent patients that we had no business caring for, and they did not care that staff was being overworked.

    Advice to Management

Staff your units more appropriately, and make sure your staff knows what ALL positions are supposed to be doing.

    Pros

    worked here 10 yrs

    Cons

When they don't need you; they will find a way to get rid of you. Management sucks!! Same nurses complaining about the same things everyday but management doesn't want to see big picture; they just want to nitpick

    Advice to Management

    No help for them

    Pros

Great ppl to work along side with.

    Cons

Favoritism in upper management. No room for growth if you're not in the select "clique" Often go to six patients a piece during busy times of the year. Some CNAs are lazy and if you work overnight sometimes a CNA is unavailable

I worked at North Oaks Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the coworkers/employees were fantastic, always ready to help.

    Cons

Very self centered organization. Many employees were upset due to being restricted to one duty. Supervisors are never available because they always have a meeting. Pay is a joke. Hope you don't take the position with advancement in mind.

    Advice to Management

Don't leave the small people to fend for themselves.

I worked at North Oaks Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are no pros about this awful place. It use to be a really nice place to work but it has gotten so big so fast that Senior Management does not care.

    Cons

Senior Management does not care about its employees. Double standard.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the needs of the employees,
