What’s the best way to have a lack of compensation and incentive conversation in your department? I went above and beyond for years doing extra work, organizations etc and nothing has been reflected in pay. I thought my 5 year was going to finally show something but it did not. I’ve inquired about pay but it’s gotten nowhere.

    Retail Banking/Consumer Banking

    Pros

Welcoming co-workers and supportive environment. Wintrust is a holding company for several small community banks, which gives them a local small town feel while serving a large market. This means that employees are encouraged to focus on customer service over product sales. Refreshing for a bank.

    Cons

Very little mobility, vertical or lateral within Wintrust. Many other bank employers have programs for existing employees to move into lending, mortgage banking or commercial banking. This does not exist at Wintrust.

My time at NSCB will be remembered fondly, lots of great people that I met and lots of things we accomplished together.

    Pros

Great facilities, lots a room for advancement, benefits are nice, not a high stress job at all. I enjoyed my time there working at several different locations.

    Cons

Culture changed from retail/customer focused to commercial/lending. While the bank was able to thrive as both, it wasn't the same community bank as when I started.

    Pros

The bank is backed by a relatively strong holding copmany BUT is known to be the black sheep of the holding company.

    Cons

There have been so many management shifts over the past 10 years, the bank jsut cannot seem to get it together. Employees are overall dissatisfied.
