    Pros

Not alot of support available, understaffed half of the time, and not alot of opportunity for growth.

    Advice to Management

more support is needed to retain staff and appreciate the staff that they have currently.

    Pros

Great benefits, friendly people, easy commute if you live on the North Shore. Depending on your department there is room for growth. Competitive pay and affiliated with partners health care and MGH.

    Cons

Onsite staff parking is tough and will be more difficult with construction. Should implement some incentives for people who carpool or bike to work.
Morale could be better across the hospital. Some employee relations and programs or classes would help.
Don't understand the KPO and what value it brings to NSMC.

    Advice to Management

Managers need more training to lead staff effectively. Need to understand talent management and how to keep employees happy and motivated.
Leadership needs to take more initiative to boost morale.

I have been working at North Shore Medical Center (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The work environment is generally positive and there's an atmosphere of care and commitment to promoting good outcomes for patients.
NSMC's outlook moving forward appears quite stable as a member of Partners Healthcare.

    Cons

NSMC sites and department locations are disperse and this can result in feeling fragmented.

    Advice to Management

Consultation and collaboration between direct service providers and senior management fosters a more positive work culture and should be expanded.

I worked at North Shore Medical Center as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

NSMC always had good hours available. I worked primarily in the ER and because of the 24 hour nature they were always needing people so you could get overtime pretty easily if you wanted. On the other hand they also had a lot of per-diems hired to cover you if you preferred to take a day/shift off once in awhile. The pay was also very good for the work.

    Cons

Sometimes working in a small hospital setting can become a bit gossipy. It's not difficult to avoid but sometimes you end up playing Switzerland because you're the neutral party.

    Advice to Management

I loved working here! Though I know a few people have worked there for 10-15+ years and haven't had the appreciation they deserve. It'd be nice to celebrate achievements like that in your employees.

    Pros

Great staff, fun job! This place accommodates there employees with great treatment and pay. No complaints so far that i am a newly experienced counselor.

    Cons

The only con with this job is there is a possibility of an employee getting hurt. Employees are good at supporting each other to avoid danger.
