I worked at North Star Resource Group as an intern

    Pros

    -Gained experience networking with clients.
-Learned how to be persistent and handle rejection.
-Saw great insight into the industry and gained exposure.

    Cons

-Small office environment, you will most likely work with only a hand full of people and it is unlikely you will see them on a daily basis.
-Day to day tasks will be focused of marketing and you will not really have exposure to the markets as a whole. Definitely not recommended for someone who likes to follow the markets.

    - when you get to work on client cases, it can be very educational

    Cons

    Pros

Very friendly environment, and mentors are ready to help those that need it. There's lots of pay potential, but it requires that you put in a lot of effort and work. The quality of mentorship is honestly the biggest pro from NorthStar.

    Cons

Having a salary largely decided by commission and performance is a little disheartening, however, this can be easily overcome with a little hard work, and simply doing the job you're supposed to.

    Advice to Management

Pay a little more generously, and do a better job of explaining the career routes for those that are completely new to financial advising. Be sure to mention that it is not a career for everyone.

    Pros

A lot of hands on work in the office. You stay busy all the time and the hours were very flexible

    Cons

The work was just busy work and was not the most exciting. Also you do the same thing the whole internship.

    Advice to Management

Maybe make the internship rotational, change the duties every few weeks to keep interns learning new things.

    Pros

Great place to work, extremely flexible with time! Very easy to work here as a student, and keep good grades.

    Cons

The pay is a little lower than other companies, possibly good to add commission on top of base pay.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing! The senior leadership team is so inspiring, keep it up!
