I worked at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The faculty and students are amazing - truly.

    Cons

Under no circumstances work at Northern Seminary. Bill Shiell (president) has created a toxic atmosphere that praises ignorance and embraces negligence. Only accept work at Northern if you're willing to be subjected to the worst academic/corporate environment in the Midwest.

    Advice to Management

Northern Seminary actually needs to listen to the professionals they employ instead of coping out to external consultants who have no idea what they're doing.

    Pros

Great people, but desperately need leadership and revenue. They tend to lose high performing people and continue to keep problem and critical employees.

    Cons

Lost their way and passion for the students. Not diverse in their hiring. It looks like a homogeneous group of bosses who are staring at each other for the answers to their problems of diversity, lack of enrollment and inevitable decline. This place is bound to go the way of antiquity and most likely will close its doors soon.

    Advice to Management

    Get new leadership.
