I worked at Northern Hospital of Surry County full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Small town feel with quality healthcare. Leadership is very involved with staff. Staff are pleasant. Company has a great sense of pride. The hospital is financially strong and growing exponentially.

    Cons

Limited service lines, but they are growing. Limited with resources to offer competitive salaries and benefit packages in comparison to organizations relatively close in distance.

    Advice to Management

It would be beneficial to have more comparable salaries and benefits to local competitors.

I worked at Northern Hospital of Surry County full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing compassionate team! Constant professionalism from every NHSC employ I ever interacted with.

    Cons

Call shift of 8 hrs is required for NON emergent Ultrasounds after FTE has already finished 8-10 hr shift.

    Advice to Management

Reward those professionals that are setting the bar in our industry by becoming FULLY staffed to accomodate the demands of call!

Too much politics within the company.

    Advice to Management

Really take up for your employees, instead of just acting like you do.

    Pros

Competitive pay for the area. Up-to-date equipment and knowledgable staff. Hospital is average in size so the patient flow isn't horrible on most day.

    Cons

The way things are are the way things they have always been if management didn't come up with the idea or at least think they did than you can forget it. Also alot of emphasize is put on the negative.

    Pros

Employees get to work with patinets to get them well...The employees make Northern Hosiptal what it is. It is the employees that make the patients and family more at ease.

    Cons

Needs to listen to the employees they the ones that on the floors. You can make things look good on paper but theres more to life than paper if you don.t believe that then maybe take walk through the hospital to see for yourself. Futher more don't relie on doctors notes because they do not help. Even though its through the same hospital that your employed at.

    Advice to Management

A few years ago i was once a supervisor the first rule of supervisoring was to distgwish between friends and employee. The sacond rule is you can not discuess employees matters with other employees. Theres an old saying about taking pride in your work but how can you take pride in your work when employer don't take pride in their employees. Thank You till next session
