Pros
Great place to gain experience. Largely a relaxed environment with many opportunities for growth if you try to know the right people. The new president seems very interested in uniting the DeKalb-Sycamore area with the university community.
Cons
It may be a relaxed environment, but the school is filled with ambivalence from professor to student. Hundreds of professors have recently retired given the pension budget crisis, but that's the State of Illinois' fault. Also, DeKalb is boring in comparison to the rest of Chicagoland.
