I worked at Northern Trust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work-life balance, supportive & understanding management, relaxed culture, benefits. Huge opportunity to impact the business given current vanilla structure and limited capabilities.

    Cons

Technology, remuneration, development & progression opportunities, acceptance of mediocrity. Everything happens too slowly; so many missed opportunities.

    Advice to Management

The cost of improved technology and staff development are investments, not expenses. Increase diversity at the executive level and foster a high performance culture by attracting and retaining top talent at every level. Encourage and invest in continuous improvement.

I have been working at Northern Trust full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Generally a Wonderfull company and staff
Ability to succeed if worked hard for promotions
    Bonus if exceeds
    Good benefits
    Supports charity work

    Cons

Company values is not equal or spread across teams

Not good for working mums ( seems to be only one department that falls short of this)

    Advice to Management

Ive been at NT for years and loved working there forming many great relationships and succeeding.

Unfortunately I work in a department that is male dominated and wont allow ANY flexible working requests - WFH, job share or part time. HR have not asked for evidence of why it wont work and legally the company only has to review such request. Other departments seem to make such requests work and I know full well that it could work. Such a shame as the company pride themselves on being a place to work, flexibility and retaining mothers.

Not advisable for working mums, not been supportive at all. A real disappointment as I now feel pushed out of the company for wanting to have a balance.

    Pros

Great company to be with if you have been in the company for more than 10 to 15 years. Good potential to grow as you always will find opportunities to improve the process. Executive management is good.

    Cons

Lower management is poor. Some of them lack the enthusiasm to improve team members or to assist the team members progress. Low paid. Account system is obsolete and cash management is complicated.

Get the lower management and the systems updated. Invest in operational technology for friendly use of systems, adaptibility for new products and long term sustainability. Don't just think of 5 year outlook.
