I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Once you get into the company, it's a great environment to work for. Competitive benefits package and 9/80 schedule. Initial recruiting process is slow.

    Cons

Transitioning to another position within the company is difficult unless you're existing management. You often feel pigeon holes in the position your in despite your best efforts for career development.

    Pros

The pay is great, benefits are great, including $15k/yr towards education. Ability to network and move up.

    Cons

A fair amount of bureaucracy, to be expected as a DOD Contractor.

    Advice to Management

Less meetings! Management has no choice to work overtime, since their days are generally consumed by meetings.

As a contractor, I was not privy to the benefits the firm could offer, so I have true insight.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Good security. Great opportunities for advancement. Thirty six years in my career. Never had a manager/supervisor I didn't like!

    Cons

It was a more "personal" business in the earlier years. It got more about the business later on but that's what it's all about after all really.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, bosses, and decent benefits.

    Cons

Sadly as with all companies in this current environment, benefits are getting cut back.

    Advice to Management

Don't let the bean counters run your company. It is the employees that make or break a company. Do right by your employees and they will do right by you!

I worked at Northrop Grumman as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay. Professional work environment. HR could use some growth on treating all employees equal regardless if they are permanent or contract.

    Cons

If you are a contract employee you are guaranteed to be treated less than equal.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to inner-office harassment claims because they are real. If a employee is on a contract, they should still have the same rights as permanent employees, and should not be bullied by others. In that sense, there was very little professionalism.
