I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company with full package of benefits, variety of locations and positions, offering good 401K package and choices of health insurance

    Cons

I was working in contract with CDC and many limits per contract situation, it is hard to speak about entire company. Here, in Atlanta, NG has only this contract and choices are very limited

    Advice to Management

I lost my job because NG lost his project in Financial Office to Delloite. And had no assistance from NG program manager in finding new position. They just let me go. I think, NG can pay more attention to people

I have been working at Northrop Grumman (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well known and respected company. Huge amount of jobs in many fields, but mostly focused on engineering and IT. Very competitive benefits package and salaries. My particular job was very flexible, letting me work from home at least 2-3 days per week.

    Cons

Can be a bit stereotypically "corporate" sometimes. Tons of forms and hurdles for any request. Many different layers of HR.

    Advice to Management

Strive to be more personal. Have larger salary bonuses for high job performance. Stay on top of subcontractors to make sure they hire the most qualified applicants.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong support for minorities and woman.

    Cons

Education and skillset do not guarantee long term employment and advancement.

    Advice to Management

Strive for a workforce that matches national demographics in terms of race and ethnicity while allowing skillset to determine employment/advancement.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for. Good benefits, employee focused.

    Cons

Lot of positions are contracts, so if contract is lost or ends, so does your job. This affects the money they put into your retirement too, if you have not been there 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Make contributions to retirement 100% vested from day 1.

Depending on the contract you're on, you could either learn and improve your skills or you can be stagnant.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stability-- The company values its talent and works to keep employees across contracts
    Friendly work environment
    Great Benefits
    Great Work Life Balance

    Cons

NG is still learning how to operate in the public health field and still has some improvements to make in terms of employee titles, salary, and expansion of work into other organizations outside of CDC. Improvements also need to be made in closing the disconnect between NG employees working at the corporate office and employees working full-time on customer sites.

    Advice to Management

Rethink employee job title and salary structure to retain qualified talent and offer more ways for employees to become involved in developing the direction of public health programs. Managers are often too far removed from the relationship with customers and the daily work to fully understand how to compete for contracts or how to hire for positions.

    Pros

Liked working with the client, especially on new projects. Many of the folks on the team had been at client for a while.
