I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Get to use really cool software development technologies. Lots of opportunities across locations all over US and in UK. Great benefits - and 9/80 work schedule (80 hours in 9 work days every two weeks) is really nice.

    Cons

Typical of big company - sometimes too much bureaucracy. But they're really working to fix that with their "Busting Bureaucracy" project.

    Pros

technical challenges and the work endeavor to support US troops have been the pros at NGC

    Cons

poorly laid out cost structures have weighed against proper investment in the design cycle and have pushed technical issues toward the manufacturing tail-end of the product life cycle

    Advice to Management

be more trusting to engineers to do the right things and invest more in engineering talents

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The engineers and work force who produce are good people

    Cons

Management and HR are in bed together. There is Zero employee advocacy and Management alone has ruined what was once a great company to work for run by Engineers, now run by bean counters who only care about their bonuses and pockets while they strip away all benefits from employees. Human Resources is a joke, they work hand in hand with Management and if there is a problem they simply defer it and point it right back at the employee.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees, we are not dumb, when you insult our intelligence by taking away benefits for the better of the Company while we see publicly VP's trading millions in stocks and restructured programs like ASPIRE which only benefit upper Management there is something wrong. When was the last time a VP took an Ethics course required by everyone to take. They don't, they have their admins take those courses. When employees are trying to get Unions in the workplace you have problems. Wake up and get your head out your @ss

    Pros

    Cons

    Pay and Benefits are "Competitive"

    Advice to Management

The Management of this Company is Slightly Better than the Other Seven (7) Aerospace Companies I have Worked For. Not Particularly Interested in Investing In Anything that Is Not Useful in the Next Six (6) Months. Always Looking to Cut Costs But Really Don't Know How to Do That Without Destroying Their Core Competencies. Have Great Faith in the Possibility That Someone Will Pull A Miracle Out of Their Butt at the Last Minute.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities for expanding jobs skills. Work with a wide variety of people, Using my imagination is encouraged. I get constructive criticism on my work, enabling me to do a better job. Management is trying hard to get employees more engage and thus produce better products.

    Cons

Northrop Grumman is very bottom line oriented. Even though (i believe sincerely) Northrop Grumman is trying to do the right things by their employees, a top priority is lowering cost, which can negatively affect employees (i.e. forced to move or be laid off).

Also, how well you are perceived as doing your job can be heavily dependent on your relationship with your management.
