I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people help you get a trade and benefits are great. You learn a lot of skills from different season vet's who been there a long time.

    Cons

Its hard manual word. The temperature in the yard in the summer reaches over 100 degrees and in the winter it is below freezing.

    Advice to Management

I think the job experience is great. I wish there was more comfortable conditions as far as the heat and cold to work in.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours, decent pays with annual raises, depending on sector and location you may have your own personal or shared office, depending on your contract may have good work life balance

    Cons

May take a while to get promotion as facing everyone else in the sector, decreasing government defense budgets means cuts in contracts, management may not be as innovative as hoped.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Open communication forums, wealth of experience to build from and depending on what department you're assigned to a descent work environment

    Cons

Due to the nature of government funded contractual employment, upper management will scrutinize and monopolize employees creating a somewhat volatile environment.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great and visionary corporate leadership with I think a true desire to do the right thing and deep insight into the future.

    Cons

Big companies trying to hold on to Government contract work can sometimes water down principle at the middle layers in order to pander to the government reps who are holding contract keys.

    Advice to Management

Be an agent of change to help the government shed it's own funk and get real, top quality, products to real war-fighters without all the bureaucratic nonsense. Don't be an "enabler of mediocrity" and take a few risks at the lower levels.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good, leave is good, people are good

    Cons

Don't manage It contracts very well, always band-aide fixes not addressing the root cause. You can't always say yes to the customer, sometimes you gotta say no with good reason.

    Advice to Management

If you have a team of senior software developer maybe listen to what they have to say, many of them have successfully deployed product.

Don't reinvent configuration management, wasted so much time in money in the convoluted process you've come up with, when there are MANY tools that will do it for you...

    Advice to Management

Due diligence to cause & effect before implementing company wide IT changes
