I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Excellent job security.
    Relaxed work environment.
    Flex schedule.
    Good pay/health/education benefits.

    Cons

Far too many layers of management.
    A lot of nepotism.

    Advice to Management

Although the matrix looks great on paper, it's still easier to find a new job than it is to move engineers around within it.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work environment is great and you can flex your time. Depending on your project/manager you can work from home on occasion. Work/Life balance is also good overall with a few work-intense/"crunch-time" periods as expected at any project or company.

    Cons

As an engineer, the salary seems to be below market value. At least for entry-level employees.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Seemed to be an organization that cared about employees.

    Cons

Truth be told. I worked for NGC three years. All they care about is filling positions for government contracts. They don't really care about quality because they do not care about matching skill sets to contract positions. This applies to project managers as well as low level managers.

And every manager has a different understanding of policy. They do not put the policy in a place where everyone can see it.

    Advice to Management

Try to care about the government contract work.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great training programs, lots of career advancement, lots of career switching options, some fantastic managers and co-workers. Great pay and benefits for low - mid engineers, more experienced will probably make more elsewhere. The flexible hours were nice. Very professional as well.

    Cons

Almost everything requires a security clearance. Wait times can be up to 18 months. Unclassified work is few and far between.

    Advice to Management

Most of the 'drama' of work was caused by engineering managers; but I know you are well aware of that.

    Pros

9/80 Schedule is something that helps maintain some life balance. Definitely can find interesting work at a place like Northrop.

    Cons

No career path at such a large corporation. Theres a certain amount of sexism and sometimes managers are more interested in making their numbers look good instead of showing with honesty and integrity in the work they di
