I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Major amount of time on your hands to do whatever training or investigating of the company you'd like. You are surrounded by a bunch of smart people who know lots of things and they can teach you. The schedule is VERY VERY flexible.

    Cons

Not much work. Bored a lot. Cafeteria food sucks.

I worked at Northrop Grumman as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - 9/80 schedule is amazing: Giving the employees Friday off for every other week helps the employees relax
    - Flexible daily schedule: You can come to work at any time as long as you fulfill your time requirement (depend on your manager, but most are open minded)
    - The workload is mild and overtime is allowed, but on a negative side, the pay is less competitive...
    - If you are young and new hires, there are huge potentials for promotion since many employees are at older ages; the company is actively recruiting for making up those who will retire soon.
    - The overall environment is friendly, and managers are open-minded to promote new hires.

    Cons

    - Less competitive pay than other high-tech software companies
    - The interns are not doing meaningful work
    - Probably because of the nature of defense company, there are segregated offices and isolated cubicles and the teamwork/collaboration environment is not very strong.

    Advice to Management

Allow more collaboration between youth and senior so they can get involved in the environment quickly. Break the cubicles and allow the teammates to have more collaboration.

    Cons

Nothing negative to say about the company.

    Advice to Management

    Keep hiring interns.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stability and support for extending your education. The pace of work is slower than most companies, especially in the tech space. Most contracts with government.

    Cons

Very slow, the average employee age is really high and nobody likes change. The salaries are competitive when you start but there is not much growth for mid-career people. It takes a long time for younger employees to get recognition and promotion.

    Advice to Management

Take actions on diversity. Promote from within and value younger employees who would like to get involved on the leadership side of the business.
