I have been working at Northwest Hospital Center (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, cool ppl to work with.

    Cons

No room for growth. Annual self evaluations are horrible for 15 to 19 cent raises. Shift seems to be divided NOT one unit

    Advice to Management

Pay attention more.. apply your own costumer service tactics when dealing with employees. .

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Northwest Hospital Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many shift options. 3 days a week 12 hour Day shifts, 7am-730pm, 12 Hour Mid Shift 11am-1130pm, 12 hour Night Shift 7pm*-730am or 9am-7:30pm or 10 hour shifts 4 days a week.
    Full-Time
    Part-Time
    PRN (As Needed)
Most of the time you can pick your own schedule to work.

    Cons

    Slave driven.
1 tech is assigned to 2 nurses, you can have 8 or more patients. Nurses only have 4 patients.
Nurses take advantage of you constantly they delegate anything they can to make their jobs easier. You have to take patients up to the floors on monitor which isn't a big deal however a majority of all the beds are broken and don't move right therefore you are in your 20's feeling like you're 90 years old with all the back and knee strain and fatigue. You HAVE to work 4 holidays and they are assigned to you. Low morale. Everyone is always frustrated or depressed with the work life.

    Advice to Management

Pay the ERT's more!!!! We are a specialty and deserve more money per hour. Show your appreciation more! Sometimes saying Good Job isn't enough treat us to a lunch or give a certificate of appreciation. BOOST the morale!

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

    No charge for parking.
    Cafeteria pizza is good.
Easy access to the credit union.

    Cons

Managers in charge of clinical departments, have no background in the clinical aspects of healthcare. It makes conveying issues and problems to them very difficult.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your offices more and interact with your staff. You would be surprised how much respect that would give you.

    Pros

Many opportunities for growth and experiences for new nurses as well as seasoned.

    Cons

Need to know how to play the usual job politics which is not necessarily a con but a realistic fact.

    Advice to Management

Doing the best they can under the universally changing, demanding, competitivie, for-profit business climate of the health care industry today.
