I worked at Northwest Hospital & Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Diverse group of professionals; Exceptional training programs including simulation; Community hospital feel with access to UW Medicine resources; nice cafeteria

    Cons

Campus layout can be somewhat confusing to navigate initially, unfortunate that there is not a covered walkway from parking garage to hospital

    Advice to Management

I would love to see front line rounds from all levels of management - staff are very motivated by seeing the talented people they work for

    Pros

Most employees are nice and friendly.

    Cons

Recently, employees have low morale due to too much company changes/uncertainties. Not enough appreciation to hard work and loyalty.

    Advice to Management

Some managers are incompetent and undeserving of the positions. Please review supervisors' performance. Do better.

    Pros

Prepares you for future management jobs.

They don't give enough administrative tasks or allow enough time for admin. 72 hours are spent on the floor as a charge nurse.

I worked at Northwest Hospital & Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Senior leadership advocates strongly for development and support of nursing staff. Lots of opportunities for growth into leadership positions and certifications.
If community, mentorship and interdepartmental relationships are important to you, this organization is second to none.
Many leaders are innovative--all expect high quality work, which makes for proud, high performing teams.

    Cons

This is a community hospital, so funds are limited. Pay and benefits are more limited than competing hospitals. This tends to drive away the people who are not great cultural fits, however(silver lining)--those left are the ones who truly believe they can make a difference and work hard.

    Cons

    Union runs the employees unfortunately

    Advice to Management

There's not much management can do with the Unions in charge.
