I worked at Northwestern University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good environment that I worked in, with many good people.

    Cons

A very large institution, so things can vary a lot depending on where you work. Like most large universities, things can tend to move slow.

"Best to use as a stepping stone, administrators don't care to about us advancing, high turnover"

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The flexibility of work from home and working on either the Chicago or Evanston campus.
The health, dental, and vision package.
The 403b is matched up to 15%
Discounts at a lot of Evanston and North Shore store locations
    Discounts at Apple
    Generally stable working environment
Tuition reduction after 12 months of service

    Cons

Administration believes that an employee is happy when they move on
There is no path towards advancement in terms of bonuses or position promotions
    High turnover
Low pay compared to industry average

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to implement a plan to have the employees gain managerial experience and outline a clear plan for promotions and bonuses. We aren't leaving because we're happy, we're leaving because we're frustrated.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and lots of perks to working for the University.

    Cons

Very low starting pay, literally no room for advancement and they will tell you this is the case and make no excuses for it. Lots of primadonna's working here that think they are irreplaceable. Ridiculous performance review process.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the old timers who refuse to move with technology!

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere and leadership development programs. Lots of opportunities to grow within the university. Highly professional and pleasant staff. Amazing benefits with great vacation policy and sick time. Impossible to beat educational reimbursement. Great Life work balancing programs. Lots of events for staff.

    Cons

For my role, I have to connect the dots between different departments which sometimes take too much time. Overall, response time is still pretty fast.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you do.

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time

    Pros

The university offers very good benefits, like tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

A lot of old, white men in leadership positions. Would like to see more hires, like the recent appointment of Jonathan Holloway, that reflect more diversity.
