    Pros

NU offers endless resources to balance life with work and everything in between (i.e, flexible work hours, counseling services, fitness discounts)

    Cons

NU can be conservative in the sense that change often takes time -- this is problematic for some people.

I worked at Northwestern University full-time

    Pros

Great work environment. Lots of dedicated individuals passionate about their research. Northwestern lives at a truly beautiful location on the Lake just North of Chicago, and is relatively close to several other major research institutions.

    Cons

The amount of activities for graduate students can sometimes feel lacking.

I worked at Northwestern University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Beautiful campus to work on, a lot community
policing programs that allow you to get to know the students and faculty. There are opportunities to receive additional training

    Cons

This department is so short staffed and officers
of the least seniority are constantly being forced into overtime with no respect for quality life/work balance. Despite being short staffed there are certain officers that are given off prime days (i.e. fri & sat) for religious reasons forcing other officers into overtime.

    Advice to Management

Treat all officers fairly, if Jewish officers are
entitled to every Friday and Saturday off in addition to all Jewish Holidays then those of us that celebrate Christian Holidays should be afforded the time off to practice our religion and be with our families. Overtime assignments are not fairly distributed-it is always the Officer with the least seniority...which means if you are the last on the list you are constantly being demanded to do overtime with no regard for taking care of our families. Do the overtime on a rotating basis. Hire more officers so forced overtime isn’t an issue. This department needs to work on creating a FAIR work/life balance for ALL of their staff members regardless of religion
