I worked at NortonLifeLock full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

ESPP Benefits are generally very good, and extensive. Varies by year. Channel relationships and programs are well-established--VAR, LAR, Disti--are all there. Channel managers are the real deal. Deal structuring and pricing is well-documented. Products have pricing documentation with clear explanations.

    Cons

Poor integration of security and data management businesses. Executive management not involved at the technical level with product decisions. It's a large company--you may not be able to see the results of your contributions easily. Middle management talks the talk, but doesn't always walk the walk.

    Advice to Management

Over the course of 7 years of my employment the organization experienced CEO departures every 2 years. With each instance there was a new 3-year plan that was never given a chance to come to fruition. Endless cycles of aiming at moving targets. There were also many acquisitions which were poorly leveraged, implemented, and managed.

    I worked at NortonLifeLock full-time

    Pros

The benefits are outstanding. There are a lot of very smart, hard working employees at Symantec. Their products are good and their brand is strong which helps when you are trying to get in the door with new accounts.

    Cons

Leadership runs through a revolving door so the strategy keeps changing. This is one of those companies that doesn't appropriately compensate loyal employees - you have to leave and come back to get an appropriate salary commensurate with your experience.

I worked at NortonLifeLock full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some products still have some relevance. Of course they have to actively push reviews to get rated. Pay was good.

    Cons

I spent three years here and went through the latest acquisitions. The sales leadership is well below par and willing to do almost. The sales leadership only promotes their buddy’s up the chain so there is never any accountability. The loss of some of the Mcafee crew could help but I doubt it. Second level management should really be looked at closer as the rank and file have lost all trust. In the last 6 months at least 5 sales managers have bailed along with the President-CFO and god how’s who else because they want to keep it a secret.
