    Pros

excellent products and more in the pipeline

    Cons

travel, paperwork time, the 10 hours a week doing expenses.

    Advice to Management

We have to get out of the catering business...we have to become partners for the doctors. Resources. Managed Care must be enabled more...they have to offer more opportunities for healthcare groups to value our products. We drive too much in big states. states should be divided into smaller territories and one rep covers most products for a smaller group of physicians. Then we create relationships with 50 customers who see us often instead of travel time in a car. No one has to determine who the correct Novartis rep is... Might not be necessary in cities, but a rep in a smaller town would have local ties & cover just the local area.

A place where you can do well, and do good.

    Cons

Control is concentrated in Basel. Career advancement opportunities somewhat limited outside of East Hanover for US employees.

    Advice to Management

Good job overall, but find ways to leverage the growing number of divisions.

    Pros

This company will provide you with the tools neccessary to launch and continue a successfull pharmaceutical career. I would suggest this company to anyone looking to advance their career or start it off!

    Cons

It is in fact a large corporation which means that it is sometimes difficult to stand out above the rest. With continued hard work and dedication your name will be heard and you can be identified as a contributer to the company as a whole,

    Advice to Management

Continue to strive as one of the top performing companies with amazing management.

    Pros

Friendly environment. The pressure is very low compared to other organizations. Salary is better compared to other organizations for the same post.

    Cons

They don't provide H1B for freshers in any field. So its bad for international applicants to get through a visa.

    Advice to Management

Should give talented people opportunity. Should hire experienced managers as I saw many of them did not know how to handle some situations.

    Pros

Stylish, European organisation. The company pays attention to detail whether it is science, regulatory, PR or employee satisfaction. Social in an American scale.

    Cons

Lack of uniform standards in operation. One has to learn how to interact with individual departments. Supervisors often create stressful microenvironment and associates have little protection but seeking other jobs. Very male heavy management.

    Advice to Management

The won't listen. Joe Jimenez is only recently took over leadership and too soon to tell. He may be too American (blunt and profit centric) for a European (more socially committed workplace) company.

I have been working at Novartis Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pipeline, work life balance

    Cons

Too much finance driven. Business should have more authority.

    Advice to Management

Too many dead weights in the company. Implement GE model where bottom 10% needs to be let go every year. Similarly too many BPAs in finance organization compared to other Pharma companies.
