I have been working at Novartis full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great. If you are in the right location, opportunities exist. State of the art manufacturing for most parts of the world.

    Cons

Trying to change the organization for the future will push a lot of jobs overseas. The bureaucracy can make getting things done in a timely fashion frustrating, if not almost impossible.

    Advice to Management

Cut the paperwork. More bureaucracy does not increase the quality or help the patient.

I worked at Novartis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, good benefits and a fast paced work environment.

    Cons

Not enough opportunities for growth. Once you land a role, it is very difficult to make horizontal or vertical transitions. Like most big organization, office politics and bureaucracy (and not hard work or talent) determine how far you will advance within the company.

    Advice to Management

Encourage more internal development amongst associates.

    Pros

Great people, competitive benefits, decent salary. Great direct supervisor.

Revolving door leadership in upper management levels from other parts of the world that don't understand the US healthcare system and have unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the feet on the ground esp those that have been in markets for many years vs higher MBA consultants who have no actual experience.

I worked at Novartis as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked at a contractor for Novartis at their East Hanover, NJ location. I love this company. One of the best groups of people I ever worked with and amazingly supportive. The only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is that they were not able to make my position permanent at the time.

    Cons

    Would not hire me permanently.

    Advice to Management

Stop having contractors and hire people, please.
