I worked at Novartis V&D full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good culture and benefits. Strong financial backing.

    Cons

The site where I worked was overburdened with poorly designed processes. Processes were designed by people who lacked the necessary experience to effectively build them. Most of these people left the company before start-up completed. The amount of patch-work and rework to solve the improperly constructed processes was seriously concerning.

    Pros

There are a lot of opportunities to learn new things and be part of different projects. Great for diversifying your resume

    Cons

V&D doesn't get treated as well as the rest of the company, bonuses are company performance dependent, older crowd- not a lot of youth and new ideas. Also, its very difficult to move up the ladder. Once you are hired with a certain title, its almost impossible to change

    Advice to Management

Hire younger people, listen to new ideas

I worked at Novartis V&D full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company had good portfolio of products, some very novel vaccine concepts, global environment and very bright and hardworking group of people

    Cons

Bad upper management mostly, decisions changed quickly. Leadership turnover was high. Some bad apples in high position ruined an otherwise congenial and dedicated group of people.

    Pros

    Cons

Some terrible people were promoted to leaders. Those people have treated their staff poorly and created a political environment and hostile bullying workplace.

I have been working at Novartis V&D full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They gave development opportunities to most people, and if they showed their worth, you could get more. Salaries were so-so

    Cons

Some major decisions didn't involve the right people. The profit margins were too small

    Advice to Management

Think more before "running with it"
