Excellent employee friendly company with good work life balance and benefits

Jun 10, 2014 - IT Manager in Hyderābād
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Flexible work timings. No micromanagement. Wonderful for young parents who may need to work from home for extended periods - Global environment - senior roles are executed from Hyderabad - Not much timeline pressure, caring management - Good remuneration and benefits, excellent caring attitude towards employees

    Cons

    - If you are looking for a charged up fast-paced work environment, then this place may disappoint you - Not good if you are early in your career, the relaxed work environment with no pressure can kill motivation to learn more and keep up with the market

Novartis is a great international organization, however, the Global Delivery Center at Hyderabad is not!

Feb 16, 2013 - Senior Analyst in Hyderābād

    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great facilities, really! Beautiful workplace, and very employee friendly. Employee friendly policies. Liberal leave and work from home policies. Great cafeteria, and gym!

    Cons

The Global delivery center created in Hyderabad is not quite living up to the expectations of the employees. Neither the employees working there, nor the global businesses to whom they are catering. There is a misalignment between "requirements" of the job and the "recruitment", or the "skills" actually possessed by the recruited employees.

Good but don't count on Employee Development unless your in top 2%

Sep 18, 2012 - Manager in East Hanover, NJ
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The company offers competitive salary, benefits and generous time off. The facilities and amenities are fantastic and the company holds campaigns/activities to engage the employees in various activities. Flex time and telecommuting are also allowed but at the discretion of each manager. Lots of employee resource group activities to support diversity and understanding among the diverse employee base. Rewards and recognitions programs in place and LOTS of town hall meetings and communication forums from senior management.

    Cons

Employee development not taken serious unless you are in top/key player in company. The company has been undergoing large layoffs. As a result, the remaining employees are overworked and stressed out. Work life balance means working from home in the evenings after putting in a 8 - 10 hour day at the office. Most employees also respond to calls, emails or requests when on vacation.

    contractors treated poorly

May 4, 2016 - Anonymous in East Hanover, NJ

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The idea of work from home was nice until you realize they just take it away.

    Cons

Contractors are treated like garbage. Can't use the gym, can't go to an office party or eat pizza that was ordered for everyone because you are a contractor. Managers don't even look at you or speak to you like you're not human. There is next to no chance of Novartis ever making you one of their employees. Contracting agency then takes most of your money and you make very little. No training or career growth at all and all contractors have noncompetes....so Novartis won't even hire a contractor because of the noncompete you wee forced to accept to even work there. Not much diversity or fair treatment of contractors. Basically made to feel worthless if you are a contractor. Mangers all have stay at home wives while they expect you to work all the time and not have a life of your own.
