I worked at Novatek as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Hands-on design, prototyping, and testing experience
Full time during Summer, part time during school.
Daily lunch and access to snacks.
Small company = working one-on-one with experienced professionals.

    Cons

Low pay. About $7 less per hour than the national average for Mechanical Engineering intern.

I have been working at Novatek full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome co-workers and a unique opportunity to learn about different types of technology. The company now offers tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Management always changes their direction and bicker with one another. Short tempers and lack of communication. Often times decisions are made but not effectively communicated.

    Advice to Management

Find some common goals and work towards them

    Pros

The pay was good as a part-time junior mechanical engineer working while going to school. They gave us a decent amount of responsibility and had a variety of work to do.

    Cons

Everyone is payed hourly (except maybe top management). Pay is perhaps lower than other engineering companies, however you are only expected 40 hours/week (rarely overtime), so there is a trade off. Biggest con is the lack of any insurance (at least at the time I was working). No benefits whatsoever.

I worked at Novatek (Less than a year)

    Pros

They are pretty flexible at the company as far as the hours you can work and when you come in to work. Free lunch and snacks are a bonus. People are generally pretty fun to work with. It is a pretty chill environment.

    Cons

There are no benefits and it doesn't seem like a great place for someone who is ambitious and wants to move up.

I have been working at Novatek full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The ability to be creative and not experience the red tape bureaucracy of traditional large R&D engineering companies. A lot of great employees to work with and learn from. Friendly environment and dedicated to succeed. Great experience and pay for interns, invaluable.

    Cons

No employee benefits at all (Medical, Dental, PTO, Retirement). Can be a volatile with the increasing frequency of layoffs. Pay is not great and there are no annual reviews with senior management.

    Advice to Management

Be more interested in the employees and provide feedback to them. An annual review that includes where the employee is at and what is expected for the employee to be more valuable and be eligible for a raise would be a good start. Incentives to succeed.
