I worked at Novatel Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As all the other reviews state, the people that work there are awesome. Benefits are above average.

    Cons

Summer of 2017 saw another new CEO, (Sue=5 starts). Mgmt seems disconnected from the engineers and technology in general. Very little work/life balance. Company is headed away from a SaaS company into a hardware company again. No merit increases either, which in a smaller company with no forward opportunities, one is stuck where you're at when you get hired.

    Advice to Management

Mgmt does not seem to be that technical, yet, they're trying to lead a technology company. There's a disconnect there.

I worked at Novatel Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great technology and interesting product portfolio
    - Skilled co-workers
    - Good benefits, medical, dental, matching 401K, etc.
    - Good work, life balance

    Cons

    - Lack of product innovation and strategy execution
    - C-suite very removed from rest of the organization
    - Lack of leadership and career development

    Advice to Management

Pick a strategy and execute on it. Constant change in strategy has ruined the company and our reputation.

    Pros

Great engineering team with smart people and nice middle management. Always works on cutting edge technology and ahead of the industry. Produces quality products for most of the customers in US and globally.

    Cons

Absolutely unpredictable upper management. Has been going through lots of turmoil due to the bad decisions by management who doesn't have any touch with reality or engineering team. Anyone can lose his job any time without any logic.

    Pros

    Good company with great people

    Cons

Same issue with Sales and every time they do a reduction in force, they let go the newer people. If they don't change their practices, the problem will never go away.

    Advice to Management

My opinion is that if the same management stays and the same problem comes up, why not change management. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!

    Pros

Great technical team and problem solving attitude, Core team has been together for a long time and has delivered on many challenging and innovative technologies.

    Cons

lots of stop and go , changing priorities and lack of focus. Senior team needs to spend more time in the trenches.

    Advice to Management

pick what you want to be #1 in and get it done better than anyone else.

    Pros

Nothing to write Much as I agree with most of the -ve comments . No technology knowledge so I don't understand if someone write -"Nice place to work for new thing " .. I never saw anything happening here.. But want to share my vision:-
CEO- Current CEO does lot of talk but he is having tough battle. If he is serious then he needs to cut top Mgmt first but he is doing exactly what ex-CEO did. Fully packed executives and no ground engineers to deliver
CTO - I dis-agree if someone says that new CTO is better but in my view, he is the worst we can ever had.
CFO - Very energetic and smart individual and looks back-bone.
CMO - New google employee . Never saw something special since last 6 months .

    Cons

Pls count on your finger :-
    1. Highly paid executive but apart from few, rest are hopeless for sure,
    2. Very poor VP/Sr. Directors - No idea how to differentiate best/worst . Meeting over meeting over meeting. .No technology ideas what so ever ,they are still in NVTL because no one will take them.
    3. There used to be some good engineer way back in 2011-2012 but then its over. Existing engineers are just following the previous work and they will struggle to find a job if laid off.
    4. Customers are upset because NVTL cant deliver quality products.
more to write but this will give you pretty good idea what I am talking,

    Advice to Management

Hire smart engineers so that they can tell you what to do to grow instead you are telling them what to do,

I worked at Novatel Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Probably the most friendly company I have ever worked for. My team there was the best. That was the main reason I stayed for nearly 6 years.

    Cons

My recent "Reduction in Force" layoff seemed impulsive. The company has had lots of problems over the last 3 years. I don't think management can focus on a firm direction.

    Advice to Management

Many folks feel insecure in there jobs there. You'll lose people faster than they can be replaced. Novatel is already working with a skeleton crew.
