    Pros

Great people, good environment, and a nice campus. Flexible work environment with a diverse group of people and it's easy to make a good impression. Some perks remain.

    Cons

Declining business model, no investment in growth, poor leadership. There isn't a focus on competing, but rather reducing expenses and bringing in cash flow.

    Advice to Management

Pick a product bet and invest aggressively--put your best people on it and use it as a rallying cry for the rest of the company.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Novell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Novell had a great work/life balance. The people were pleasant to work with as well. Developers have their own spacious offices in a nice high rise building overlooking the mountains or local municipal golf course. Benefits were good at one time, but really took a hit when the company was taken private.

    Cons

This is an Enterprise Software company and as such the software they product isn't used by a large number of people. Their sales have been poor for many years and although there was once a lot of cash on hand, they have been taken private and then public again and it seems the cash has evaporated during that process. There is not much excitement about the products that are actively being worked on.

More vacation time than other places start you out at I think, ability to work remotely

    Cons

Being on call, understaffed, layoffs from time to time....

    Advice to Management

Try to entice people to stay, regular raises...
