I have been working at Novetta full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Under my current director/VP, they have a great screening process to get the right people. Tech skills are a dime a dozen - its the attitude of the individuals that can work together to make a great team. So far its been it a great place to learn (again based on the current team). Flexible schedule. Several initiatives for techies to collaborate.

    Cons

as with all contracting companies, if you've outgrown your position, the only option is to jump. There is (known) capability to make the jump from technical side to management side. They do have corporate training / leadership school, but its only for the management side of things. Nothing exists for getting the technical help to move up and help the company grow and maneuver.

    Advice to Management

Tech collaborations are great, but please increase the ability to get technical people moved up within the company. Look to hire from inside first. The folks who're working to make this company great NOW are the ones who are working for ability to move up...

I have been working at Novetta full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Never a dull moment here. The experiences here will be with you for the rest of your life.

    Cons

This is my first job out of school and I am shocked on a near daily basis how incredibly childish, unprofessional, and combative management is. Only apply here if you are extremely resilient because you will be constantly tested.

    Advice to Management

It would be a complete waste of time trying to right this ship. HR ignores all complaints. Fingers in ears, eyes closed, and humming.

I have been working at Novetta full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Interesting Projects and great benefits.

    Cons

Work is not properly delegated across the team. Talented people are not challenged and given work at their skill level.

    Advice to Management

Grow people and keep them interested and focused on interesting work in their skill set as much as possible.

    I worked at Novetta

    Pros

Good benefits, ok pay. Many of the programmers and management are underpaid for Boston.

    Cons

Incompetent and inexperienced management. Software has many problems and is supposed to protect service members in the field. Cronyism within a certain group in the Boston office has made it difficult for software to achieve it's functioning and operational goals. If you point out the problems with the software and have solutions to fix it, they don't want to know about it. Several competent Engineers have been fired or quit do to ineffective management addressing the real problems. The Software does not do what it is advertised that it says it will do. There is no real testing, the documentation given to the Government has been falsified to keep the contract alive. Software is supposed to protect military personnel in the field. Most software packages that have been sold are not in use due to the fact the software freezes up, cannot control the sensors to direct cameras and infrared sensors toward possible enemy targets. Young management team that has not had prior experience running a software production company. If you are competent and want to improve and/or fix the software, do not take a position here. You will be ignored, ridiculed and eventually fired.

    Advice to Management

Throw the software away and start over. The software cannot be fixed the state it is currently. Writing whole new code and new software is the only way to save Ageon (software name). Next time when you see people quitting and getting fired (3 personnel in less than a year), then maybe it's time to look at DRG management and determine if they are competent enough to be able to handle the work. I have also overheard management say, that the Government is too stupid to realize and we'll just keep on selling them what we have, it's worked so far.

I worked at Novetta full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You get paid well, but it comes at a very high cost to your morale and professional reputation.

    Cons

Management. Horrible attrition rate due to... yep you guessed it, Management. This is the company that employees from other companies avoid simply because they don't want to have their good reputation ruined. No, I take that back, Novetta is the company employees from other companies avoid because they don't want to lose their jobs because they didn't report harassment or ethics violations made by the Novetta Management. Novetta's customers despise them and can't wait for contract re-compete season!

    Advice to Management

Advice is irrelevant when the management thinks what they are doing is right. The company will have to go belly up before anyone "get's it". The CEO KNOWS he has a problem with management, but remains silent because that same management is making money hand over fist for him...
