I worked at Novozymes full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Great culture. I loved (most) everyone I worked with. - Because it's a European company, the benefits are better than any American company (lots of vacation, cheap healthcare) - Lots of trust placed in younger/inexperienced folks. Sometimes this was a little concerning, but it allows younger people to learn a lot fast. You will have a lot to put on your resume after working here. - Because of the constant changes (which are also a source of complaint), you (usually) never run out of stuff to do!

    Cons

    - Because it is a great culture, people feel close to one another, and therefore the gossip culture is HUGE. It's kind of a cesspool, so you have to be careful what you say to some people. - The company is not prepared for long term strategy. Production and project plans change several times a year at least. This puts added stress on folks working in those areas. In addition, new plans come out VERY suddenly, and everyone is expected to drop everything and support these plans without extra personnel or time. At times, it can be very stressful, and managers don't tend to help (or if they do, it's kind of too late). - This is probably the same for many publicly traded companies, but Novozymes is way too focused on shareholder value. A lot of decisions that would have been beneficial internally to the company were not made, because it would affect our share price. We make so much money and yet are so cheap. Getting money for improvements at the manufacturing facilities was like pulling teeth, and if we did get money, we were hammered to save as much as possible which led to cheap designs and decisions. I realize all of this is just how capitalism works now in the 21st century, but I guess if you're hoping for something different at a Danish company, it isn't.

I have been working at Novozymes full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

International exposure, solid biological science and global manufacturing scale.

    Cons

Lackluster innovation, conservatism, and a systemic lack of trust in their own people have resulted in years of financial underperformance, while dozens of start-up and mature industrial biotech companies have surpassed Novozymes in multiple areas.

I have been working at Novozymes full-time

    Pros

Work with a lot of good people, underlying science is very interesting and aimed at improving sustainability.

    Cons

Inefficiencies due to "quarterly capitalism" (true of all publicly traded companies?)

I worked at Novozymes full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits and vacation time, 401K, HSA. I enjoyed working here but you have to watch your back.

    Cons

Watch you back and your circle. You might bust your butt doing tasks, and not get any positive feedback. Company layoffs are yearly, company is declining.

I worked at Novozymes full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Laid back. Easy day to day work. Nice vacation. Okay insurance. Employer 401k matching. Chill.

    Cons

Low opportunity for advancement, but better chances of moving horizontally if you have a PhD. Promotion cycle is more like round robin than by merit. Promotions are low percentage pay raises. Yearly bonus is not noticeable. Recently not enough to do, which signaled the current mass exodus. If you are a Scientist or RA you will be paid at least 20% less than the local average for the same job.
